As the continuation of the rear axle assembly, the works for this day were the installation of the hub bearing and the assembly of the rear axle.
First of all, I applied the grease on the surface of the new hub bearing.
Then, the hub, the new hub bearing and the old bearing were set to the axle shaft with this order.
The new bearing would be inserted by hitting the old bearing instead.
The pipe for scaffolding was inserted above the old bearing. The size of this pipe was just fit for this.
The new bearing should be inserted by hitting this pipe with “the hammer of justice”. J
The new bearing was installed smoothly.
The retainer nut for the bearing was installed.
Next work was the replacement of the oil seal in the axle shaft.
The old oil seal was sticking little bit, but it could be removed using the big flathead screwdriver.
Then, to install the new oil seal I looked for a pipe with suitable size. I found a piece of PVC pipe for water piping in my garage and it seemed to have the similar diameter as the oil seal.
The new oil seal could be installed by hitting using the PVC pipe.
Finally, the splash shield and the axle shaft were assembled.
I also assembled the parking brake cable and the brake disc rotor, and the assembly of the rear axle on the right side was completed! ☺︎
Always the assembly was easier than disassembly or cleaning. However, the assembly work on this day was quite smooth and I could have done more than I expected. Tonight’s beer would be definitely tasteful! ☺︎☺︎☺︎
